Boxing superstar Floyd “Money” Mayweather returns to the Channel of Champions BoxNation (Sky Ch. 437/Virgin Ch. 546), for the second time this year, after the channel secured the LIVE UK rights to his Light-Middleweight Unification title clash against the new wonder-kid of Mexico Saúl ‘Canelo’ Alvarez at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nev. on Saturday 14 th September.
Eight – Time and Five Division World Champion Floyd “Money” Mayweather, recognised as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world today, will put his unbeaten record on the line as he takes on WBC and WBA Light-Middleweight Champion Saúl ‘Canelo’ Alvarez who himself is undefeated and has a record 30 knockouts in 42 wins.
For the third time in a row, Mayweather’s fight will be featured on BoxNation, the UK’s number one fight subscription channel, (the channel recently broadcast Mayweather’s sensational WBC Welterweight World Championship title win over Robert Guerrero in May).
This bout is arguably Mayweather’s toughest test to date. Alvarez who is considered a Mexican national hero will reap the support of the masses at the fight taking place on Mexican Independence Day weekend.
Mayweather, unbeaten in 44 fights in a stunning 17-year career, has cemented his position as the greatest fighter of his generation with wins over former World, Champions Genaro Hernandez, Diego Corrales, Jose Luis Castillo, Arturo Gatti, Zab Judah, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Juan Manuel Marquez, Shane Mosley, Victor Ortiz and Cotto.
Alvarez has recently established himself as one of the best in the business after a unanimous decision win over Austin Trout in April this year. Now he gets his chance to score a huge upset by defeating one of the all-time greats in September.
