Fight Report: Joseph Rabotte vs Luis Ortiz

Number 2 WBA Heavyweight Luis Ortiz and undefeated Cuban sensation Luis Ortiz (20-0, 17 KOs) scored another spectacular knockout when he sent Joseph Rabotte of Myrtle Beach, NC, through the ropes with a crisp three-punch combination toward the end of the second round.

“It was one of the most brutal KOs that I’ve ever seen,” said Dino Spencer, trainer of Ortiz and co-owner of the legendary 5th St. Gym in Miami Beach, FL.

Although Ortiz has not been able to get any of the top ten heavyweights in the ring with him as a pro, he and his team believe his #2 ranking in the WBA coupled with his southpaw stance and the fact that he was considered one of the best heavyweight prospects when he was an amateur should get die-hard boxing fans excited about him and lead to opportunities to prove himself against the best.

“We really are ready for anyone. This kid has walked through these guys as a pro and is more experienced than nearly every other heavyweight out there. People who know boxing should be excited,” said Spencer.
Ortiz has won several Cuban and International amateur titles and currently holds several regional titles. Fans and media interested in meeting one of today’s most promising heavyweights can check out Ortiz at the legendary 5th St. Gym in Miami Beach, FL. In addition to Ortiz, the 5th St. Gym has also been home to current WBA # 1 Heavyweight David Haye and WBA # 5 Heavyweight Fres Oquendo as well as home to the likes of Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, Glen Johnson, Bernard Hopkins, Roy Jones Jr. and many more.
