Three “Top 10” World-Ranked Boxers Come To Glendale Saturday

The City of Glendale is known as the “Jewel City” and is one of the largest cities in Los Angeles County. This Saturday night, three young jewels of professional boxing, Gilberto Ramirez, Jessie Magdaleno, and Anton Novikov, will be on display at the Glendale Civic Auditorium. All three undefeated boxers are ranked “Top 10” in the world in their respective weight classes.

Ramirez, from Mazatlan, Mexico, is ranked #4 in the World at Middleweight and has already amassed a 25-0 record with 20 knockouts. At 22 years old, Ramirez is currently the WBC Youth Middleweight World Champion and has defended his WBC Youth title six times. Ramirez has left the comforts of home in Mexico and taken up camp in Big Bear, a preferred destination for professional boxers due to its high altitude. vAugust 24th in Glendale marks the U.S. debut for the 6’3″ southpaw.

Magdaleno, born in Pomona and currently residing in Las Vegas, Nevada, was one of America’s best amateurs capturing gold meals in the National Golden Gloves and U.S National Championships. Rather than continuing down a path that could have led to the 2012 Olympics, Magdaleno turned pro less than 3 years ago and has blown through the competition to 15-0 record with 11 of his bouts ending by knockout. Magdaleno is currently the #8 ranked super bantamweight in the World and at just 21 years old, the future is very bright for this young jewel of the Top Rank stable. ESPN’s Dan Rafael has described Magdaleno as “one of boxing’s best prospects.”

Novikov, who is co-promoted by Top Rank and Ural Boxing Promotions, hopes to continue the huge surge of Russian boxers capturing the attention of the World boxing scene. Ranked #10 in the World at Welterweight, the boxer known as “The Pick Hammer” has been in intense training with Freddie Roach and his team of esteemed trainers at Wildcard Boxing Club in Hollywood. Novikov hopes to make his move to Light Welterweight successful and to show the Jewel City faithful that he is a diamond in rough within the talent rich weight division.

These three World Ranked “Top 10” boxers will hope to continue to shine at Glendale Glory 4 on Saturday, August 24th at the Glendale Civic Auditorium.

Glendale Glory 4 is presented by Top Rank, in association with Ural Boxing Promotions, Art of Boxing Promotions and Bash Boxing, and will be aired live as part of the Tecate Solo Boxeo series on Unimas.
