HATTON PROMOTIONS prospects Adam Etches and Scott Jenkins have had two lots of good news in less than seven days.
Last week, the unbeaten pair were given the huge honour of becoming ambassadors for the Weston Park Cancer Charity.
And then on Tuesday manager Richard Poxon informed them they will be appearing on the undercard of Kell Brook’s clash with Vyacheslav Senchenko at Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena on October 26.
Boxing at such a large venue will enable them to raise even more awareness for the good work that the charity does, particularly through its teenage cancer unit which helps patients aged between 16 and 25 in comfortable surroundings.
Adam, 22, said: “I’m overwhelmed. Although I’m doing well in my boxing career, I’m still only a novice and so it’s nice to be able to do something that only people like Jessica Ennis usually get asked to do.
“I know the more I progress, the more awareness I can get for a brilliant cause.”
The young boxers have already played a huge role in helping Richard Poxon raise more than £23,000 for the charity through his regular shows in the Steel City.
Scott, also 22, said: “We’ve been involved in Richard’s charity shows for about three years now and it’s always felt good to be able to help out.
“Getting asked to become an ambassador is something I’m really pleased about and proud of.”
As well as offering a chance to get make more people take notice of Weston Park Cancer Charity, their fights in October will mark steps forward in their respective careers and enable them to potentially increase their large fanbases even further.
“It’s an opportunity for me to box in front of a big crowd, put on a good performance and convert a few more general boxing fans into my fans,” Adam, who has won ten of his 12 victories by knockout, stated.
“I’ve always want to box at the Arena and I hope to top the bill there in my own right one day.”
Scott, 9 – 0 (4 KOs), added: “From being a kid I’ve always wanted to box at this venue. I remember when I was a youngster I saw Ricky Hatton fight Carlos Maussa there and I thought ‘this is where I want to be’, so now it’s like a dream come true.”
