Oscar De La Hoya to miss Mayweather vs Canelo to receive treatment

Ring Legend and Boxing Promoter, Oscar De La Hoya will miss this weekend’s huge clash between Floyd Mayweather Jnr. and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.

The former multi-weight World champion has voluntarily admitted himself for treatment. He has in the past few years battled alcohol and drug addiction and the 40-year-olds health must be a major concern, for the head-honcho of GoldenBoy promotions, to miss such a big fight.

Ringnews24 would like to wish Oscar a full and speedy recovery.

Here is a statement from Oscar De La Hoya:

“Canelo Alvarez and I have big fights coming up this weekend. His is the ring and mine in treatment. will not be at the fight this Saturday to cheer Canelo to victory since I have voluntarily admitted myself into a treatment facility. I explained this to Canelo and he understood that my health and longterm recovery from my disease must come first. Thank you for your understanding. I ask for your support and privacy during this difficult time for me and my family.”
