Shayne Singleton vs Tyrone Nurse is off but the show goes ahead

The English light-welterweight title fight between Shayne Singleton and Tyrone Nurse which was scheduled for this Friday (September 20th) has been cancelled following the former’s failed effort to make the championship weight. This is the second time that the bout has fallen through in the space of three months and promoter Dave Coldwell is extremely disappointed that his upcoming main event has fell victim once again.

“I’m absolutely gutted that the fight is no longer happening but it’s the timing of the announcement that has upset me the most as it doesn’t really give me much time to find a suitable replacement. This was a fight that I was really looking forward to and it was a fight that fans had got behind too. Two young lads fighting for a title with the opportunity to push on for bigger prizes but unfortunately that is not the case no more. Shayne will now move up to welterweight and I wish him all the best at his new weight.”

Coldwell added, “The show will still go ahead on Friday minus the main event and I’m still confident that it will be a great nights boxing. I’d like to apologise to everyone who bought tickets to see Singleton v Nurse but this incident is well and truly out of my hands and it shows once again how unpredictable boxing can be.”

For those who bought tickets for main event, refunds can be obtained at point of purchase.
