Ringnews24.com: You are currently 11-2-1. What are your thoughts on how your career is progressing so far?
Hi, well, I am not too happy with my career as I made the wrong decisions early in my career by retiring a few too many times. Generally because I lost interest in boxing, I lost interest in putting in all the hard hours of hard work and get hardly anything in return, and most of all with bad decisions.
Ringnews24.com: Who has been the biggest influence in your career so far ?
In my career to date the biggest influence has possibly been my fiance Caroline, as she has been 100% supportive and stood by me when I have been a nightmare on the lead up to fights. Been there to help me so much and that is the reason I am continuing trying, to set up a good life for us as a family.
Ringnews24.com: Who would you say has been your toughest opponent so far?
My toughest opponent as a professional has been Willie Limond. I was ready for him and I handled him perfectly. In my, and MANY other peoples opinions, I deserved the victory.
Ringnews24.com: What fight has taught you the most as a boxer?
The fighter that’s taught me the most has got to be my two fights against the ‘Professor’ Peter Buckley. He knows the game inside out and let’s opponents learn from him.
Ringnews24.com: You are currently in the middle of a training camp to prepare for Ivan Godor, could you tell us a little about your camp?
Our camp so far has been going great, working hard, running hard, sparring hard. As I should be expecting as my coach Jim Love knows his stuff and were doing great. Godor won’t know what hit him come 11th October.
Ringnews24.com: Have you saw much footage of Ivan Godor and what do you think of him as a fighter?
I’ve seen a bit of footage of Godor, I have seen he’s a wee hard fighter, that will suit me down to a tee. I have the ability to box the head off of people comfortably, as well as the ability to get stuck in and have a good old hard scrap. I’m ready and willing to do both.
Ringnews24.com: Do you have a prediction of how the fight will end?
I happen to know exactly how the fights going to end… “And the winner is… Mitch The Prince”
Ringnews24.com Who is going to be in your corner on the night? And what do they bring to Team Prince?
I will have my personal coach Jim Love who is there for me as a coach, friend and slave driver. Also, I believe Bennie King will be my cuts man on the night. We all work well as a team.
Ringnews24.com: Where did the boxing nickname ‘Prince of Passion’ come from and what does it mean?
The nickname Prince Of Passion came from a fellow member of the Scotland Amateur squad back in the day. Jim Cusick, he named me it on a boxing trip for a laugh and it stuck. It doesn’t mean anything at all. But if I think about it, it’s because I put passion into EVERYTHING I do.
Ringnews24.com: What do you hope to achieve in the rest of your career and do you have a time scale to reach your goals
As a boxer I am hoping to get more big title shots, but that’s in the hands of Tommy Gilmour. I have a lifetime ambition and that’s to win a British title. I would relish the opportunity and all the spectators would be in for a treat as I’m an exciting fighter to watch.
I don’t have a scale for this goal as such, but I’m not going to hang about forever waiting. It’s getting harder and harder each fight to make the weight and get the hard training camps in. But while I still can… I will, and do it well as I’m a great trainer and I don’t cut corners… As Jim Love keeps drilling into me… “You’re only cheating yourself”
Ringnews24.com: Message for the fans?
