After a controversial loss to current British Champion Kevin Satchell, Jerviston’s Iain Butcher (8-1) returns to action on October 11th at Ravenscraig Sports Centre and looks to bounce back by capturing the vacant WBO European Title, as he takes on tough Hungarian Gabor Molnar (13-3).
Hoping for his fighter to comes through, Promoter Paul Graham expects a tough nights work for Butcher “Gabor comes in with 13 wins, and nine of those are by knock down, so it is something that we have to be aware of. Iain has been back in the gym for a while and is looking forward to getting back to the ring.
“If he is successful in his fight on October 11th, then he will get a ranking in the top 15 in the world, which will only help with his long term ambition of challenging for a World title at some point, but that aside we are focused on October 11th and getting the win and back to winning ways.
Also on the comeback trail after a loss, Sanquhar’s Rhys Pagan (6-1) looks to overcome a points loss to the undefeated Robert Dixon in July this year. With the loss against Pagan, Manager and Promoter expects the 20 year old to learn from it “Dixon was a tough opponent for any fighter to face when there only seven fights into they’re pro career. I spoke to Rhys after and to be honest hes switched on enough to know what he could have done better. He has been working on things in training he thinks will help improve and I look forward to seeing the results on October 11th.
After a closely contested points loss to current Commonwealth Light Welterweight champion Willie Limond in June, October 11th will see Cumbernauld’s Mitch Prince (11-2) return in his first fight since the loss “I know Mitch felt that he won the fight against Limond, and on the night he did push him hard and gave him a good fight. We have him in with Ivan Godor on October 11th and I have seen him fight and I can tell you hes no mug. He will come over to win, and with Mitch looking to get back to winning ways it really will make it a good contest”said Graham.
Ayr’s Martin McCord (0-0-1) made his professional debut on the last Prospect Card in July, and shared the spoils with Dundee’s Mike Towell. While he would have preferred a win for his fighter, Paul Graham thinks that it was a great start “Towell really was up for it and even though he only had one fight more, Martin more than coped with what he had. For this fight I think Martin is looking to show everyone his boxing skills as we have already seen he knows how to scrap !
After his draw with McCord, Mike Towell (1-0-1) also return on October 11th as he takes on New Cummnocks Billy Campbell (3-1), in what some people are already saying that it could be fight of the night “I have had a lot of interest in this fight since we announced it. Billy’s last fight was in March and he picked up a close win over Ryan Scott, and he is chomping at the bit to get back into the ring. We know Towell can fight from his bout with McCord. So this could be a good fight with lots going on!” proclaimed Graham.
After a fifth round knockout of Krzysztof Rogowski on Monday night at the St Andrews Sporting Club, Dundee’s Ronnie Clark makes a swift return to action, having seen him fight a few times Graham is looking forward to seeing the former World Champion Kickboxer in action “Ronnie was a late edition to the card, and its a pleasure to have him on the card. You can see has been working hard over the last year to get himself into British title contention and he has told me he cant wait to get back in the ring and pick up another KO!
Completing the line up and with a second all Scottish fight, Bellshill JP McGuinness makes his long awaited debut “This is JP’s debut and coming into this fight he brings in some experience as a Kick boxer and as an amateur he only lost one fight. He has been working hard in the gym and is looking forward to putting on a show.
