Not Ahmed Kaddour but Giuseppe Langella (19-9-4, 5 KOs) will be the man across the ring when Torben Keller (8-0-1, 2 KOs) returns to action at the Nordic Fight Night in Kolding on October 19. The 26-year-old light middleweight was slated to take on his Danish countryman but the clash failed to materialize – yet – after Kaddour pulled out with a back injury. “Of course I would have loved to fight Ahmed,” Keller said. “I am disappointed that he is not the man in the opposite corner on October 19 but now all my focus is on Langella. He is an experienced guy and he demands all of my attention. I always focus 100 percent on my opponent because this is boxing and the slightest mistake can prove very costly.”
Langella, who challenged for the European Union Light Middleweight Title earlier this year, will make his second Nordic Fight Night appearance. His first showing, a third-round TKO loss against Reda Zam Zam in June 2012, was unfortunate as he had to quit due to an injury. “I watched the fight and I learned that Langella has good eyes and can counter-punch,” Keller said. “But I don´t think he has the speed to deal with me. His eyes need to be really fast for that. We are working hard to place the first punches very awkwardly for him.”
Said promoter Nisse Sauerland: “Torben has progressed very well, he is getting better every time he steps into the ring. After the Kaddour fight didn´t happen, we went looking for an equally tough opponent. Langella has a lot of experience, he has fought for international titles and he will come to Kolding to win. But I am with Torben on this one – his speed will be too much for Langella.”
