Alexander Povetkin vs Wladimir Klitschko: Will there be more fireworks inside or outside the ring

Dereck Chisora, fresh off his TKO victory in round five against Germanys’ Edmund Gerber, plans to travel to Moscow, Russia. He travels not to fight or to watch from ringside but to be part of Team Povetkin – Dereck will inspect Wladimir Klitschko’s hand-wrapping in an attempt to play mind games and unsettle the WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO champion.

Chisora met Wladimir’s brother Vitali Klitschko in February last year and went on to lose a unanimous decision in Munich, Germany. But it was the incidents leading up to the fight that caused a stir between the camps, making Chisora’s hand-wrapping role even more interesting.

At the weigh-in of Chisora vs V.Klitschko, Chisora slapped Vitali in the face.

Inside the ring Chisora spat water into Wladimir’s face.

Chisora was rumoured to be involved in a nightclub scuffle in Ibiza with Wladimir Klitschko in the summer.

Before the fight, Wladimir was sent by his brother’s team to watch the hand-wrapping process in Chisora’s locker room. Now the roles are reversed and Chisora will be inside the Klitschko dressing room to inspect Wladimir Klitschko’s hands before his fight with Povetkin.

Klitschko’s adviser Bernd Boente swiftly issued a warning to Dereck Chisora by adding “If things like that on Saturday night do happen then he is out of the mix from our side”

Chisora is a very lively character who is sure to stir the pot before the fight – what will happen on the night is anyone’s guess. But it does make for interesting viewing.
