End of the year Fight Predictions with ‘Iceman’ John Scully

Wladimir Klitschko  v Alexander Povetkin

ICE: I think Wladimir is just now starting to get his respect and I think it will actually be many years after his eventual retirement when he will get his full credit as the champion he is. It may or may not be exciting to watch but the fact is he has proven to be one of the smartest and most efficient boxers in history who uses every bit of athletic and mental strength to his advantage. He does what he has to do to win and I don’t see this fight as being any different than other fight he has over the last five or six years. I can see Wladimir winning a convincing and emphatic 12 round decision here in much the same fashion he has won almost every other fight he’s been in. Klitschko

Timothy Bradley v Juan Manuel Marquez

ICE: I like this fight, I think it pits pretty much two polar opposites within the boxing realm. An older counter punching and wise tactician against a young, strong and hungry young buck with tremendous conditioning and energy. My gut feeling is that Marquez will patiently wait for and find the holes to punch through needed to win a pretty solid decision. Marquez

Manny Pacquiao v Brandon Rios

ICE:  This is a hard fight to pick because there is absolutely no way to really know how that KO loss affected Manny until he actually gets in the ring and starts getting hit with solid punches. Throughout history we’ve seen some great fighters recover as if nothing had happened and others who have been permanently damaged by one KO loss. I can’t even really pick a winner because its like not knowing if a horse you are betting on is going to come with three legs or four. If Manny has all four legs I see him winning by a convincing decision, if not then I see Brandon outworking him on pure adrenaline over the last few rounds. Undecided

Adrien Broner v Marcos Rene Maidana

ICE: In my ways I think Broner was exposed against Malignaggi last time out and my instincts tell me based off that to go with a Maidana win, maybe even by KO. But something tells me that Broner will box much better this time out, with more urgency and speed, and I think he will juke and jive and hustle his way to a decision victory. Broner

Ringnews24.com:  Message for the fans?

ICE: I hope that everyone keeps an eye out for my soon to be released autobiography, the Iceman Diaries, a book I’ve been working on for ten years now and one that I hope to have ready to sell in time for Christmas. It is a book that is for boxers and for fans full of stories, insight and anecdotes that I honestly believe will be extremely well received by anyone who reads it.
