Al Bernstein Pays Tribute to Archie Moore

Hall of Fame Boxing announcer Al Bernstein will deliver a tribute to the great Archie Moore at the ABC Youth Foundation’s first annual fundraising banquet October 10. The ABC Foundation was founded in 1957 by boxing legend Archie Moore to help young men and women, using boxing as a backdrop to lessons about life, character and citizenship. Archie’s son Billy has continued the work of the Foundation and now it includes an after school learning center, nutritional counseling as well as an amateur boxing program.

The October 10 fund-raiser will be highlighted by the presentation of the Archie Moore Humanitarian Award to Chris Van Gorder, CEO of Scripps Health, Trevor Hoffman, former  San Diego Padres star pitcher,  and Marti Emerald, San Diego City Council member. Al Bernstein will kick off that part of the fund-raiser with a tribute to Archie Moore. “Archie Moore was not only one of the greatest boxers of all time, he was one of the greatest people of all time,” Bernstein said. He added, “He was a self educated renaissance man who cared  about his community…the community of man. I am delighted to be able to be at this event and remind people of  the virtues of Archie Moore.”  For more information on this event go to www.abcyouthfoundation.org  .
