Micki Nielsen (9-0, 8 KOs) has overcome his hand injury and will return against experienced Sandro Siproshvili at the Nordic Fight Night in Kolding on October 19. The hard-hitting 20-year-old is determined to stretch his winning streak to double digits. Whether his 10th victory comes by KO or on points doesn´t make any difference to him. “I will not rush for the KO,” the talented cruiserweight said. “I´ll just see how the fight goes. I am glad my hand has healed well, this is my first fight after surgery and I´m happy to be back in the ring.”
Siproshvili, a veteran of 42 fights, has bagged 27 wins (13 KOs) along with 15 losses. He challenged for the WBO European Cruiserweight Title in 2010 but came up short, losing narrowly on points to Nuri Seferi. Last June, he fought at the Nordic Fight Night in Herning, losing to Team Sauerland´s Karo Murat, who is challenging no less than IBF Light Heavyweight Champion Bernhard Hopkins in Atlantic City on October 26.
“This will be a difficult test for Micki,” promoter Nisse Sauerland said. “Siproshvili has the experience of many tough fights. “He has been in the ring with the likes of Ola Afolabi, Herbie Hide and Karo Murat. Micki can´t just rely on his overwhelming power this time, he needs to show his boxing skills to defeat someone like Siproshvili.”
Nielsen is not the only Team Sauerland fighter who has been pitted against an experienced opponent with a winning record. After Giuseppe Langella pulled out, Torben Keller (8-0-1, 2 KOs) will now take on Bradley Pryce (34-13, 18 KOs) from the UK. “Pryce is well-known in British boxing circles,” Sauerland said. “He has fought for a lot of titles against opponents with very good records. He´s no stranger to travelling, he just defeated Michael Lomax in London, which was a bit of an upset. Of course it´s a risk to put a quality fighter like him against Torben, especially at short notice, but Torben has progressed so impressively that he will find a way to beat him.”
Keller is looking forward to the fight. “Pryce got a good name for himself, he has got some good skills. He is a great opponent for me. By beating him, I can take a big step forward in the rankings.
“My coach Jens and I are working on developing my own style. It doesn´t bother me so much who my opponent is or what he does. I just have to box and force him to adapt to my style.”
