Liverpool’s Jevons Eager to Resume Career

Liverpool’s Anthony Jevons will aim to extinguish a year’s worth of anguish when he steps into the ring on December 14th at the Liverpool Olympia. After making a successful debut against Pavel Senkovs last October, Jevons’ progress has been heavily deterred by a number of circumstances but he insists that will all be forgotten about when he climbs into the ring next month.

“It’s been a hard time but I’ve had to remain positive because boxing is an unpredictable sport and I’m well aware that things don’t run smooth all the time. I put a lot of pressure on myself for my debut because I’d done a load of tickets and wanted to impress everyone who had travelled to come and watch me. Once that was out the way, I couldn’t wait for my 2nd fight because that would’ve been the one where people got to see the best of me but I’m still waiting to get that performance in because everything that could go wrong outside the ring has gone wrong for me.”

A car crash prevented Jevons from extending his ledger last December but he was immediately pencilled in for his next outing on the massive Echo Arena show which took place in March starring Tony Bellew and Isaac Chilemba. His opponent that night, Harvey Hemsley, turned up overweight and a decision was made by Jevons’ trainer, Dave Tonks, to pull the contest as it wasn’t in his fighter’s best interests to concede such an advantage. A hand injury put paid to Jevons for the remainder of the boxing season but the former amateur starlet is raring to go and is confident of making up for lost time, beginning in December.

“I’m at the point now where I just want to be in the ring looking at my opponent and waiting for the bell to ring,” revealed Jevons. “I’ve been in the gym for a long time now working on the little things that needed to be adjusted and everything is coming together well for me. This year was supposed to be a real meaningful one for me in which I got to learn about the realities of professional boxing but that hasn’t quite gone to plan. I’ll be looking to make amends pretty much straightaway and that’s why I’m looking forward to my next fight so much.”

ANTHONY JEVONS IS PART OF “NEW KIDS ON THE DOCK” WHICH TAKES PLACE AT LIVERPOOL OLYMPIA ON DECEMBER 14TH AND FEATURES A WEALTH OF MERSEYSIDE TALENT SUCH AS NEIL PERKINS, ROBBIE DAVIES JNR, NATHAN BROUGH, JUNIOR JONES AND PETER SPENCER. TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE NOW FROM WWW.COLDWELLBOXING.COM.
