This past Saturday LIVE around the WORLD on GFL.tv, Paul Spadafora (48-1-1) dropped a contested decision to Johan Perez (18-1-1). The 12 round bout for the interim WBA Jr. Welterweight title was an exciting one.
While Spadafora dominated the first few rounds, Perez fought back valiantly giving Spadafora a heap of problems during the fight. Instead of coming straight forward at Spadafora, Perez switched his style up and patiently waited for opportunities.
Even through the adjustments and a cut on his eye from the 4th round, Spadafora stuck to his game plan. Even after hyper extending his elbow you kept bringing the fight to the younger Perez.
One thing is for sure you can not take anything away from either man. After 12 round of intense action the judge’s scorecards read 114-114 Draw, 115-113 and a ridiculous 117-110 for the winner via Majority Decision, Johan Perez.
Even though the judge’s scored for Perez, there seemed ti be differances of opinion in the media. For example Fightnews.com scored the fight 114-114 DRAW while GFL.tv scored the fight 115-113 in favor of Spadafora.
Also on the card there was a highly disputed draw between veteran spoiler Darnell “Deezol” Boone & Morgan “Big Chief” Fitch. Fitch survived 2 knockdowns in the fight but stayed in the fight until the final bell. Even though the judges scored the fight a Draw, many disputed the decision.
