Boxing Greats Oscar De La Hoya, Felix Trinidad and Joe Calzaghe will have the official seal of their status, in Boxing, when they join the Legends of Boxing, by being inducted into the International Hall of Fame at Canastota in 2014.
Inductees in the Modern category: Six weight world champion Oscar De La Hoya (39-6) , three weight world champion Felix Trinidad (42-3), and two weight world champion Joe Calzaghe (46-0).
Aswell as the three fighters – Barry Hearn (promoter), Richard Steele (referee), Graham Houston (journalist) and Neil Leifer (photograher) complete the Modern category.
Posthumous honorees
Old-Timer Category: George “K.O.” Chaney, Charles Ledoux and Mike O’Dowd in the
Non Participant Category: referee Eugene Corri
Pioneer Category: Tom Allen
“We’re extremely excited about the class of 2014 and are very much looking forward to honouring the 25th class of inductees”, said Exceutive Director Edward Brophy.
Inductees were voted in by members of the Boxing Writers Association and a panel of international boxing historians.
The 25th Annual Hall of Fame takes place from the 5th to 8th June 2014 at Canastota, NY. The Official Enshrinement Ceremony on the Hall of Fame Museum Grounds takes place on the Sunday.
