Jean Pierre Augustin set for Pro Debut!

Charismatic cruiserweight Jean Pierre “Kid Creole” Augustin is already well-educated about how difficult the business of professional boxing is.

Initially scheduled to enter the paid ranks last September, Augustin, a Lawrence, MA native of Haitian descent, saw his pro debut cancelled on multiple occasions. A two-time Massachusetts State Golden Gloves champion and Gold Medalist at the 2011 Pan American Games Qualifiers, Augustin competed in the 2012 Olympic Trials but lost a decision to Jonathan Hanson. He was hoping to have a few fights under his belt by now, but things didn’t go as expected.

“I was working out two or three times a day to get ready for my original pro debut in September only to find out there was an issue with getting an opponent.” said Augustin. “I then had another date scheduled, took a week off and went back to the gym, but the whole card got cancelled. I also had two dates fall out earlier this month. This was extremely frustrating to say the least since I had a total of six fight dates fall out.”

On Saturday, February 8, Augustin’s long awaited pro debut will finally take place in Weirton, WV against 19 fight veteran Michael Davis. Davis, who faced seven unbeaten fighters, hails from Cincinnati, OH and has been a pro since 2005.

“It’s been a long time coming and I’m extremely anxious to fight. I’m ready to go in there and get a taste of the pros after waiting for too long. A knockout is always nice but I’m going in there with a game plan to win by any means necessary!”
