Just two days away from their first HOLLYWOOD FIGHT NIGHT show of 2014, Art of Boxing Promotions and Bash Boxing may have once again outdone their usual combo of well-matched and compelling fights with a fun and exciting atmosphere for boxing fans and live entertainment junkies.
Highlighting the currently scheduled 10-fight bout card is an 8 round bout between South African Chris “The Heat” van Heerden and former World Title Challenger Cosme “Chino” Rivera. Van Heerden (19-1-1, 10KOs) captured the IBO Welterweight World Title in 2011 by beating Kaizer Mabuza and successfully defended his world title against Sebastian Lujan in 2012 and Matthew Hatton in 2013. Mexico’s hard-hitting Rivera (35-17-3, 24KOs) has fought a Who’s Who of boxing elite including Zab Judah, Andre Berto, Alfredo Angulo, Joel Julio, and a memorable trilogy with Antonio Pitalua.
Added to the already stacked HOLLYWOOD FIGHT NIGHT card are two local favorites and HOLLYWOOD FIGHT NIGHT veterans, Middleweight Louis Rose (8-1-1, 2KOs) and Super Bantamweight Erik Ruiz (10-1, 5KOs). Lynwood’s Rose battled back with a vengeance from his first professional defeat at the hands of Tony Hirsch by beating undefeated fighters in three consecutive bouts. Rose will face yet another undefeated fighter this Thursday night in Mexico’s Fabian Reyes (10-0, 6KOs). Oxnard’s Ruiz bounced back well from his lone defeat to Isaac Zarate with a 1st round annihilation of Rigoberto Casillas on the last HOLLYWOOD FIGHT NIGHT show in November and will now face Mexico’s Victor Capacata (3-5-3, 2KOs).
Other notable bouts for this Thursday’s HFN 7 show includes an early favorite for Fight Of The Night with a matchup of two hard-hitting Light Heavyweights in Slava “LionHeart” Shabransky (6-0 boxrec, 11-2-1 fight fax) vs. Lamont Williams (5-3-1). Shabransky has been rolling through the professional ranks with 6 consecutive victories since his two seasons as an LA Matador for the World Series of Boxing . Williams gave U.S. Olympian Marcus Brown (8-0, 7KOs) all he could handled in a thrilling decision loss and then nearly upset another New York prospect in Joe Smith Jr.. Showtime and Fox Sports color analyst and BWAA Broadcaster of the Year Paulie “Magic Man” Malignaggi sat ringside at both of Lamont Williams’ last two bouts and had this to say about him, “In the case of Lamont Williams, records are deceiving. Have you heard of the saying Don’t judge a book by it’s cover?’ Well for this guy, don’t judge him by his record.”
The Heavyweights will also be in full effect Thursday night as rising undefeated prospect Charles Martin (13-0-1, 11KOs) faces another stern test in Maurenzo Smith (12-7-2, 9KOs).
