Some reporters were with Jhonny Gonzalez yesterday at the Romanza Gym of Mexico City. The 126-pound WBC monarch, showed his anger when somebody comment on the news that the Jalisco fighter, Abner Mares, plans a ten-round contest, “as preparation”, before taking the rematch with him.
“If there was any doubt that Mares is afraid of me, now you are totally clear. I expected the announcement that Abner will fight against me, but they go with something else. Preparation for what? Many people doubt that he was injured in training and therefore canceled the fight against me”. The champion said. And added: “I ask Abner to define his situation. It is not possible that Mares will do a match in two months and then going against me. That is not serious”.
Gonzalez believes that when a fighter loses by knockout, is when the fear begins. And if we add that Jhonny is known to be a predator of the ring able to win a fight with a single blow, then imagine the result.
