Heavyweights Joseph Parker and Andriy Rudenko set to collide

22-year-old Heavyweight prospect Joseph Parker is looking to make a big step-up in class when he takes on Ukraine’s Andriy Rudenko.

Kiwi Parker is undefeated in seven contests, six coming by knock-out including a second round demolition of wily veteran Frans Botha. In Parker’s last fight against Afa Tatupu, he sustained a nasty cut before blasting out his wild swinging opponent.

In the 30-year-old Andriy Rudenko he will be facing an opponent, who has racked up 24 wins since turning professional in 2006. Rudenko hasn’t faced the best opposition but has been putting them away, with 16 having been stopped. The most notable names being journeymen Raymond Ochieng and Daniil Peretyatko.

The proposed bout would take place on the undercard of the Heavyweight championship fight between Wladimir Klitschko and Alex Leapai at Koenig Pilsener Arena, Oberhausen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany on the 26th April.

It is good to see a young, dynamic Heavyweight looking to be matched tough early rather than pad their record.
