Iain Butcher gets green light to avenge Satchell loss

Scottish Flyweight Iain Butcher has finally received the news he had been hoping for, after the BBBC sanctioned a rematch with British Champion Kevin Satchell. The Jerviston fighter lost narrowly on all three cards despite dropping Satchell with an early second round knockdown. With purse bids to be submitted by 12th March 2014 and the contest to take place by the end of May 2014 – Iain gave Ringnews24.com reaction to the news.

Iain stated ‘I am very pleased that I am getting the opportunity to avenge the only loss on my record – most people thought the decision was controversial, so I would like to thank the British Boxing Board of Control for making it happen’

‘My team and I felt that we had did more than enough to win the fight and were happy with my performance – you only have to look at the reaction Kevin Satchell gave after the final bell, he clearly didn’t think he had won the fight and was glad to hear the final bell’.

‘I’ve gained a lot of experience from the first fight and I still believe I am a better fighter and confident I am a better boxer than Kevin – I will take the fight into my own hands this time around and not leave it to the judges’.
Butcher clearly goes into the proposed fight in a confident, buoyant mood and he is looking beyond the fight.

‘Over the next 12/18 months after I win the British title, I believe it will be a massive boost to my career and I am sure it will get me a European title fight come spring next year after a defence and I win the British title outright’.

On his fan-base and where the fight potentially will be staged, he added ‘I think we could look at a venue that will hold around two to three thousand for the British title fight if we win the purse bid to stage it up here – there are a lot of venues that we can look at’.

‘My fans have been extremely loyal to me from day one and I had 150 travel down to Liverpool to see me box the first time around, so I believe I will build on from that – I would like to thank every fan that supports me and I would ask they keep showing their support as ‘TEAM BUTCHER’ greatly appreciates it’.
