Iain Butcher: l need to stay focused and box smart

On 28th March 2014, the Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility in Motherwell will play host to Iain Butchers 6×3 minute round contest against Bulgarian Valentin Marinov. In what will be the first outing of the year for the Scottish fighter, Ringnews24.com caught up with the talented Flyweight ahead of what will hopefully be no more than an intensive workout, before his proposed rematch with Kevin Satchell.

‘I am looking forward to boxing again and getting rid of the rust’ said Butcher ‘The weight has been a lot easier to make this time around, with the fight being at 8.10 and if I am honest I have not really dieted for it, I have just been eating better food to help to maintain my weight and keep myself strong’.

‘Marinov’s record does not speak for him as a boxer, and although he might not be the best that I have faced he is naturally a lot heavier than me and very tough, he swings wildly, so I need to stay focused and box smart’

‘Although it is harder to motivate myself for fights like this, it’s my job and I need to be professional about it, so that is what I will be. I am looking to get rid of the ring rust and get more rounds in the bank, but if a knockout comes it’s a bonus, but I won’t be chasing the KO’.

‘I am looking to keep myself busy again this year, so I am hoping that my management team and promoter can keep me active. I have a lot of people that work hard for me behind the scenes, so I would like to give a special thank’s to my sponsors, RBE-fightwear, CandC mot/service station and Physiquecal who give me good support’.

Tickets are priced at £30 and £40 and available from the fighters directly or by calling 01224 632218 where Credit/ Debit Cards are accepted.
