Power puncher Deontay Wilder is still hoping that he will face elder Klitschko brother, Vitali in the ring for the championship.
““Hopefully one day Vitali has an opportunity to come back and I will have the belt that he once had and he may decide to come back because I would love to fight him,” said Wilder on boxingnewsonline.net. “Getting the belts from the other guys, guys who had won vacant titles, it’s not going to mean as much to me. It’s going to mean a lot that I have the belt but to beat that champion with that belt would mean so much more that winning a vacant belt.”
But Wilder thinks that there is the possibility that Klitschko’s hunger for boxing could wane the longer he is out of the sport.
“His mind is totally on politics so it may be one of those fights you never see,” conceded the man from Alabama. “Once you get out of something and your mind is fully devoted on something else, that’s out of the window. That’s just like me playing other sports. My love for basketball and football was very strong when I got introduced to boxing but I committed my life to boxing and my love for other sports changed and they became just a hobby I liked to do.”
