Ringnews24.com: You have a fight coming up against Paulius Butvidas. How did that fight come about and which other boxers were you looking at?
My original fight unfortunately fell through. So Paulius was a late replacement. I wasn’t looking at anybody in particular, it’s my debut so I just want to get in there and do the business. I’m not bothered who it is, but also I’m not going around calling people out.
Ringnews24.com: Who is your current trainer and where do you train?
I train at Bracebridge Boxing Club and have done so my whole boxing career since I was 10 years old. It’s like my second home. I love the place and it’s taught me a lot, not only in the ring but also outside of it as well. My dad and a bloke called James Coulby put a lot of work into me for this fight and for this I owe them.
Ringnews24.com: You are currently in the middle of a training camp to prepare for Butvidas, could you tell us a little about your camp?
Yes, it’s only one week away so I’m starting to wind down now the hard works being done. It’s been a good camp. I’m in great shape and ready to fight. I’ve being working on a couple of things to change my style a bit and it seems to all coming together. I’ve worked on the new things in sparring and it’s gone pretty good. Whatever he brings to the table I’m more than ready.
Ringnews24.com: How is your training going and how would you compare it to other training camps that you have done?
It is my first camp as a professional boxer. But compared to when I was amateur I’ve just been working on changing my style. My fitness is very good and that through the running. I’ve put a lot more running in this camp compared to me am days.
Ringnews24.com: Have you seen much footage of Butvidas and what do you think of him as a fighter?
I’ve not seen any footage of him. I had a long amateur career and boxed top lads over and over again. So I’ll be ready for anything he can bring. I boxed The likes of Chris Eubank jr, Adam Etches, Lewis Taylor, Scott Jenkins, Damien Hooper, Alan Higgins and Tyler Goodjohn just to name a few that are doing very well as pros.
Ringnews24.com: Do you have a prediction of how the fight will end?
The only prediction I’ll give is me winning and I’ll win in style. Whether it’s on points or stoppage it doesn’t matter.
Ringnews24.com: You are fighting on March 1st at York Hall, have you visited the venue before?
Yes, I remember visiting the venue years ago when I first got into boxing. It was to watch two pros from our gym fight (Tony Dowling and Carl Greaves).
Ringnews24.com Who is going to be in your corner on the night? And what do they bring to Team Decastro?
Ringnews24.com: How can fans watch the fight? Is the fight on TV and what channel?
Tickets are still available for the show from myself. We’ve put a bus on from Lincoln and back. Most people me included are staying in London for the weekend. I’m not 100% if it on a channel or live streaming. I will have to ask
Ringnews24.com: After your victory, are there any fighters that you would like to call out?
Like I said before, I’m not calling anybody out yet, I want to get a few fights in the bank all wins then I can start looking for some juicy match ups to get people talking.
Ringnews24.com: Do you have a message for the fans?
I just want to thank everyone who’s supported me and bought tickets to my fight and I promise to put on a fight to remember.
Ringnews24.com: Thanks for doing an interview with Ringnews24, we wish you all the best on the night.
Not a problem, thanks for taking your time to speak to me.
