Sleep deprived Lee Connelly aiming to give everything in the ring

Ringnews24.com: You have a fight coming up against Simas Volosinas. How did that fight come about and which other boxers were you looking at?

Yes, I’m fighting Volosinas. I was originally fighting Sid Razak but he has now retired. I need a win and a good start to the year 2014.

Ringnews24.com: Who is your current trainer and where do you train?

Andy Marlow is my trainer at the S18 gym in Dronfield but I also do some training and sparring up at Sean Thickets gym to mix it up.

Ringnews24.com: You are currently in the middle of a training camp to prepare for Volosinas, could you tell us a little about your camp?

This camp is different than any other than I have had before as I have a little baby boy at home and he doesn’t like me to sleep. But I am training hard after a good break at the end of last year.

Ringnews24.com: How is your training going and how would you compare it to other training camps that you have done?

It’s going well but I will admit it’s not the best camp I have had. I’m doing the same training I always do with some different sparring but it’s just having more of a distraction at home with little baby Gabriel that has knocked me off my game slightly.

Ringnews24.com: Who have you been sparring in preparation for Volosinas?

I have been sparring my good friend Callum Boyce and Kas Hussain then the odd sparring session with other good pro’s.

Ringnews24.com: Have you done anything differently in this camp compared to other training camps?

Not really, I have had a few different sparring sessions but keeping to what I know. I’m just missing more sleep than I would like.

Ringnews24.com: Have you seen much footage of Volosinas and what do you think of him as a fighter?

I have watched a couple of clips but not much. I don’t think there is that much to study he is basically very tough and game and comes forward it should make for a good fight.

Ringnews24.com: Do you have a prediction of how the fight will end?

He has been the full distance with some top prospects, so I’m not expecting a stoppage although it’s not out of the question. I predict a points win in an entertaining fight.

Ringnews24.com: You are fighting on March 7th, at the Metrodome in Barnsley, have you visited the venue before?

I had my debut in the Metrodome and it was a great night. I hope I have the same amount of support this time and it will make it a great night in a good venue.

Ringnews24.com Who is going to be in your corner on the night? And what do they bring to Team Connelly?

Andy Marlow, he knows me well and we work well together.

Ringnews24.com: How can fans watch the fight? Is the fight on TV and what channel?

This one isn’t on TV so people need to get tickets and come and enjoy it live. There are plenty of exciting fights on the show, so people won’t be disappointed. Anybody can message me on Facebook or Twitter and I will drop the tickets off for them.

Ringnews24.com: After your victory are there any fighters that you would like to call out?

There are a few, to be honest, Jamie Robinson (Ginger Rocket) has already turned down a April fight with me, but I would like to fight Femi Fehintola, who is a Dennis Hobson fighter or Maxi Hughes.

Ringnews24.com: Do you have a message for the fans?

I will put on a show and give everything in the ring, as I always do, so please come out to support me. You won’t be disappointed!

Ringnews24.com: Thanks for doing an interview with Ringnews24, we wish you all the best on the night.
