Ringnews24.com: You have a fight coming up against Liam Griffiths. How did that fight come about and which other boxers were you looking at?
At this early stage in my career I haven’t really worried about my opponents too much, I just leave it in the capable hands of my coach and my promoter to find the right opponent for me. Same as the first fight, I got a call from my coach who told me I would be fighting Liam Griffiths and I said that’s fine. Also at this early stage of my career there wasn’t any particular boxer that I wanted to fight, I was just happy to have a fight.
Ringnews24.com: Who is your current trainer and were do you train?
My trainers name is Rod Julian, and our gym is based in Chingford.
Ringnews24.com: You are currently in the middle of training; could you tell us a little about your camp?
Training camp for this fight has been excellent; working more on my technical side rather than a lot of sparring as I did for the first fight with a very strong boxer called Joe Mullender. All the prep for this fight is almost done, just a few final tweaks and perfecting all the things I’ve been working on.
Ringnews24.com: Who have you been sparring?
I’ve been doing a lot of technical and body sparring which has helped with my workrate inside the ring with Michael Lomax – who I’ve learned so much from – and also been sparring with Sohail, who will also be having his third professional fight, and Mustard Mike, who will have his pro debut on March 22nd.
Ringnews24.com: Have you seen much footage of Liam Griffiths and what do you think of him as a fighter?
I’ve seen a few of his fights on Youtube and as a fighter he should not be inside the ring with me.
Ringnews24.com: Do you have a prediction of how the fight will end?
Third-round knockout.
Ringnews24.com: You are fighting on March 8th at York Hall in London; have you visited the venue before?
Yes, I had my professional debut at York Hall and I also watched a couple of shows before that.
Ringnews24.com Who is going to be in your corner on the night and what do they bring to Team Menzie?
My coach Rod Julian would be in my corner. I couldn’t ask for a better relationship between boxer and trainer and I put my full trust in him to prepare me for every fight. He is an excellent coach and has taught me so much in the short space of time I’ve been training with him. He brings everything to Team Menzie.
Ringnews24.com: How can fans watch the fight? Is it on TV?
Fans can watch the fight on Goodwinpromotion.com where you will also find my profile with all my fights, I hope to be on TV very soon.
Ringnews24.com: After your victory, are there any fighters that you would like to call out?
Again there isn’t any particular fighter I have in mind yet. At the moment I’m leaving that to my trainer and promoter and I’m just focusing on training hard for each fight so that I will beat any boxer they match me up with.
Ringnews24.com: Do you have a message for the fans?
I would like to thank all the fans who came to the first fight and who are coming to my next fight and any other fans who watch the fight online. I would also like to thank my sponsor Lewis Hall at Michael Hall Limited who has supported me more than I could ask for.
Ringnews24.com: Thanks for talking to Ringnews24, we wish you all the best on the night.
