AJ Carter hoping his fathers wisdom and experience can lead him to success

Ringnews24.com:  You have a fight coming up against Lukas Filka. How did that fight come about and which other boxers were you looking at?

My management at this stage arrange who I fight. I am not looking at anyone in particular at the moment I am just focusing on getting as much experience and fighting as often as possible.

Ringnews24.com:  Who is your current trainer and where do you train?

My current trainer is my father (former professional himself) Carlton Warren and we train at Miguel’s Boxing Gym in Brixton, South London

Ringnews24.com: You are currently in the middle of training; could you tell us a little about your camp?

We have added a few new things and have worked extensively on one thing in particular. So we will see in the fight how that has worked.

Ringnews24.com: How is your training going and how would you compare it to previous camps?

My training is going well and on schedule. I have had a couple of injuries throughout this camp, which is not ideal, but this is boxing and things like that happen and we have just had to work around them. Like all camps I do it has been hard but is always enjoyable and worth it.

Ringnews24.com: Who have you been sparring in preparation for Filka?

Due to my injuries I have not been able to have at least half of the sparring I would have ideally liked to have, but when I was able to was sparring Dereck Chisora.

Ringnews24.com: Have you seen much footage of Filka and what do you think of him as a fighter?

Unfortunately neither I nor my team have been able to find any footage of Filka so I cannot comment on him as a fighter. However, I feel that no fighter is better than me or even in my league! That is not to say that I will underestimate Filka or any other opponent. I look at every fight as a world championship fight.

Ringnews24.com: Do you have a prediction of how the fight will end?

Yes, the fight will end with me being the winner.

Ringnews24.com: You are fighting on March 8th at York Hall in London; have you visited the venue before?

Yes I have, on three prior occasions. Also the majority of my prospective fights this year will be at York Hall so I intend to make myself a household name at the venue.

Ringnews24.com: Who is going to be in your corner on the night and what do they bring to Team Carter?

Both my father and John Simms will be in my corner for my fight. Between them they bring much wisdom and experience both as former fighters and coaches.

Ringnews24.com: How can fans watch the fight? Is it on TV?

The show will not be televised so boxing fans and AJ Carter fans will have to come down to York Hall and watch the show live and experience the atmosphere first-hand.  There is only a limited amount of tickets left now so it is looking like a full house again.

After your victory, are there any fighters that you would like to call out?

I am not looking at any other fighters at the moment. I wish I could fight the top guys now but when I get to that level I intend to stay there, so it is all about gaining as much experience as possible and learning the art of boxing for now.

Ringnews24.com: Do you have a message for the fans?

I would just like to thank all those who support me and follow my progress be it from near or from far. It is really much appreciated.
