John Thain is looking to improve and peak on the night against Ronnie Heffron

Ringnews24.com: You have a fight coming up against Ronnie Heffron. How did that fight come about, and which other boxers were you looking at?

I was first offered the fight with Heffron last year and accepted but I had to pull out through injury which was disappointing for everybody. So, when the opportunity came again we fully accepted.

Ringnews24.com: Who is your current trainer and where do you train?

My trainer is Terry McCormack and we train at Lochend Amateur Boxing Club in Edinburgh. He is assisted by Eric Brown. I also work with Mike Webb of Pure Gym on conditioning.

Ringnews24.com: You are currently in the middle of a training camp to prepare for Heffron. Could you tell us a little about your camp?

The camp has been good, lots of hard work and discipline. We’re always looking to improve and peak on the night. So, in that way it’s been the same as always. For this fight and my previous one I’ve worked a lot with Mike so that my nutrition is better along with conditioning and recovery.

Ringnews24.com: Who have you been sparring in preparation for Heffron?

I have sparred the excellent amateurs at Lochend, also David Brophy from Caldercruix, plus I did a lot of rounds with Paul Appleby at the start of camp.

Ringnews24.com: Have you seen much footage of Heffron, and what do you think of him as a fighter?

I’ve seen a little footage of Heffron before and he is a good fighter to watch. So we’ve prepared for that.

Ringnews24.com: Do you have a prediction of how the fight will end?

I never usually make predictions. All I ever do is prepare as best I can to win.

Ringnews24.com: You are fighting on March 8th, at the Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool. Have you visited the venue before?

I’ve been to Liverpool a few times and enjoyed being there. I haven’t yet been to Aintree but I’m looking forward to the experience.

Ringnews24.com Who is going to be in your corner on the night? And what do they bring to Team Thain?

Terry will be corner on fight night with Eric Brown. They each keep me focused and on the right track, I owe my team everything. Mike Webb has a great help to me since we started working together. Team Thain wouldn’t be the same without them!

Ringnews24.com: How can fans watch the fight? Is the fight on TV and what channel?

The fight will be live on BoxNation and some tickets are also still available at frankwarren.com.

Ringnews24.com: After your victory are there any fighters that you would like to call out?

No, I’m not one to call out other fighters, all I do is concentrate on the task in front of me. It’s my most important so far.

Ringnews24.com: Do you have a message for the fans?

I would like to thank everyone that has supported me in the lead up to this fight. Also I’d like to thank Lochend Multi-Sponsor, Lochend Amateur Boxing Club and also Pure Gym as their help truly means a lot.

Ringnews24.com: Thanks for doing an interview with Ringnews24, we wish you all the best on the night.

Thanks lads, I’m sorry I took so long to get back to you.
