On Saturday April 12th. Peltz Boxing at Bally’s presents “Sosa vs. Brooks” LIVE around the WORLD on GFL.tv! Om Friday March 21st, All Star Promotions presents “Battle of the Rising Stars” which will be LIVE around the WORLD exclusively on GFL.tv!
The Main Event will be a battle of once beaten fighters when Jason Sosa (11-1-3) takes on fellow super featherweight Michael “Lefty” Brooks (10-1-1) over the course of 10 rounds.
Jason Sosa is coming into the fight on a 7 fight winning streak since back to back draws with undefeated angel Ocasio in 2012. Before the 2 draws, Sosa suffered one loss very early in his career to previously undefeated Treysean Wiggins but has been on a tear as of late. 6 of his last 7 victories have came inside the distance with his last fight being a 4th round KO victory over the normally durable Bryne Green. Sosa is making the transition from prospect to contender but will have to get by fellow prospect Michael Brooks to do so.
Michael “Lefty” Brooks went undefeated in his 1st 11 fights with his only blemish being a draw to fellow undefeated prospect Juan Villanueva which ended in a Technical Draw. Brooks suffered his 1st loss to very highly touted prospect Karl Dargan (13-0) this past November and looks to rebound from that loss when he faces Sosa. A loss to Sosa could be very detrimental to Brooks giving him back to back loses so this is a MUST WIN!
A win for both men will allow them to continue up the ranks and start the transition from prospect to contender while the loser will be forced to start from scratch so expect both men to put it all on the line LIVE on GFL.tv!
In the co-main event, undefeated prospect Thomas “Cornflake” LaManna (13-0) will have his toughest test to date when he faces Ahsandi Gibbs (10-3) in front of a WORLDWIDE audience LIVE on GFL.tv!
LaManna, who has a very strong fan base in the South Jersey area, will look to continue his undefeated streak when he squares off with Gibbs. With his opponents levels continuously rising, LaManna will look to put on a dominant performance in front of his hometown fans as well as the WORLD on GFL.tv. If LaManna can impressively defeat Gibbs, he will be on track to fight for his 1st regional title towards the end of 2014.
LaManna’s opponent Gibbs provides a stern test for the young prospect. Gibbs was an undefeated prospect himself winning his 1st 10 fights until dropping his next 3 to upset specialist Marcus Upshaw as well as prospect Ibaheim King and World rate contender James Kirkland. Gibbs knows it will be tough but if he is able to upset the hometown favorite it could breathe new life into his career and lead to bigger fights.
Both men have something to gain as well as everything to lose so fans in attendance as well as watching LIVE around the WORLD can expect both men to leave it all in the ring!
Rounding out the card will be Sherman Artis Jr (2-0) vs Antowyan Aikens (8-0), Daniel Pasciolla (2-1) vs. David Williams (7-7-2), Sultahn Staton (3-0) vs. David Gonzalez (3-0), Lavon Slade (0-1) vs Kyrone Davis (1-0), and Anthony Burgin (5-0) vs TBA.
