Anthony Yigit (9-0-1, 3 KOs) has been thriving in Copenhagen under the direction of two-time world champion Joey Gamache.
Yigit is somewhat of a boxing nomad. Originally from the suburbs of Stockholm then training in Berlin and now based in Copenhagen.
“I was training in Berlin – which was good – but when I heard Joey was here in Copenhagen training Patrick and Micki Nielsen, I thought that he would be perfect for me,” says Yigit.
“My style of boxing is more American than the German textbook style of boxing. With Joey it’s all about the feeling. About what’s working for me. And believe me there are a lot of tricks in American pro boxing that I’m learning now,” says Yigit.
“Joey is so down to earth that you tend to forget that he is a former two-time world champion, but I have a lot of respect for him. I trust him because he’s been there and knows what it takes. When he says I can become a champion it’s credible. I nod my head and think I must be doing something right,” Yigit says with a smile.
Ahead of fighting Kasper Bruun (19-0-1, 4 KOs) in Esbjerg on April 12th Yigit will be analysing his opponent closely with Joey Gamache.
“I’ve seen some of Kasper’s fights live and the guy can really box. Now I’ve watched them again on video along with Joey, I truly believe that we have come up with a good game plan to beat him.”
“You see, the opponents I’ve had so far have been quite unorthodox, against such a type, it is difficult to make a game plan. It’s different with Kasper, he’s a skilled technical boxer. I can very easily relate to his style. It makes him easier for me to read.”
