Dai Davies vs Robbie Turley, Craig Kennedy, Chris Jenkins in action on July 11th

A raft of Welsh talent will be on display at the Merthyr Leisure Centre, Merthyr Tydfil, Wales on Friday 11th July, 2014 in a Sanigar Events bill called ‘Repeat or Revenge’, which is headlined by the rematch between Dai Davies (10-23-2) and Robbie Turley (13-4).

Davies and Turley met some five years ago, with Merthyr boxer Davies winning on a cuts stoppage in the ninth round, and once again the Welsh featherweight title will be on the line, as Dai makes the first defence of the title in his second spell as champion.

Local boxer Davies, is looking to build on his impressive ‘away’ win in Doncaster, in March against Andy Townend, while Turley has registered two wins in 2014 and the current Welsh and Celtic super-featherweight champion, is looking to become a two-weight national champion.

Highly touted Swansea prospect Chris Jenkins (15-0), takes on Hungarian Gyula Vajda (16-6) and will be looking to impress again, in this venue, after an explosive first round stoppage over Asan Yuseinov, back in March. Jenkins is in-line for a shot at the British light-welterweight crown, though may have to face Thomas Stalker first.

Welsh middleweight champion Frankie Borg (9-2) of Cardiff, faces Sheffield’s Wayne Reed (10-8). Borg impressively upset the favoured Kerry Hope on the last Sanigar show at this venue, over ten rounds. Borg will also be an interested spectator as potential opponent Luke Osman (3-12-1), fights on the undercard. Osman was meant to clash with James Lilley, in a Welsh middleweight title eliminator, to decide who will face the current champion – but Osman will now face the come-backing Jimmy White (0-1). White’s original opponent, Alex Hughes (1-0), is off the bill due to illness.

Undefeated Cruiserweight Craig ‘The Kid’ Kennedy (8-0), faces Bristolian Henry Smith (3-3), who won his comeback fight at this venue back in March. Hard-hitting Kennedy, is having his second fight of the year and it promises to be an explosive contest against Smith.

Heavyweight Dorian Darch (7-3), gets a tough comeback fight against Hatfield’s Tom Little (4-2). Darch was last in action against Olympic Gold medallist Anthony Joshua, and is looking to get a ‘W’ back in the win column but will have his work cut-out for him against Little; who has mixed with the likes of American fringe contender Brian Minto.

Powerful welterweight Tony Dixon (4-0), gets a tough test against journeyman William Warburton (13-63-4), who has a habit of pulling off upsets and is a tricky opponent for most. Dixon won his first three fights, in style, on the road but now gets a second straight fight in front of a ‘home’ crowd.

A light-welterweight contest pits Stuart Brewer (1-0) of Penygraig, against Newport’s Adam Goldsmith (2-0-1). Goldsmith outpointed Lewis van Poetsch, on the last Sanigar show at this venue back in March.

Pontypridd’s Kyle Jones makes his professional debut against Barnsley’s Jamie Zaszlos (1-10), in another welterweight bout. Ricky Rowlands of Phillipstown, is also making his debut though no opponent yet confirmed. The Jamie Arthur trained prospect, will be operating in the light-middleweight division.

Tickets available from the boxers or call 0117 9496699. The bill will also be televised live on Eurosport.
