WBC and Boxing Community give back to the youth

Yesterday, July 2, 2014 in Big Bear Lake, CA The WBC Cares along with Supreme Boxing and Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, held an event at the United Peace Officers Committee annual camp for at risk youth and called it “Training with the Champions”. The goal was to inspire the youth whether it was in the sport of Boxing or any dream they had, in reality, nothing is impossible.

In attendance we had legends like Israel Vazquez, Julian The Hawk Jackson, Champions like Leo Santa Cruz, Armando Santa Cruz, Julius Jackson, John Jackson, fighters and amateurs like Adrienne and Cassandra Alegria, Victor Castro, Carlos Macho Lopez, Randy Caballero, Joel Diaz Jr., Patrick, Csmenski, Paul Ritter, David Iomsiouri, Fabian Ocegueda, Roland Bryant, Lissette Medel, trainers like Zar Roman, Rodney Cruz Hunt, Lee Espinoza, Ben Lira, Abel Sanchez, Jose and Roberto Santa Cruz were among the guests. They all spoke and inspired youth to follow their dreams regardless of their obstacles, nothing is impossible. Each spoke of their personal struggles as well.

During the camp the youth had the opportunity to train with the champs, hit the mitts, shadow box, learn the importance of hand wrapping, all the boxing fundamentals. WBC Cares and Supreme Boxing also taught the business side of Boxing like promoting, Public relations, Contracts, Photography, Production, Press Conferences, reporting, writing even held a Ring Announcer contest which was a big hit among the kids. With the favorite announcer lines like “Let’s Get Ready To Rumble”, “It’s Showtime!” and “Quien Es El Mas Macho!” Winners were giving gifts brought by the fighters in attendance.

The County of Los Angeles was also very grateful of the guest, fighters and trainers taking time off their busy schedules and gave them a beautiful certificate from the County as well as a Medal from the World Boxing Council. This is an annual camp the Sheriff’s Department holds and they are very grateful the WBC as well as the Boxing Community have committed to be part of this yearly event.
