Ringside Report: Explosive Return for Patrick Hyland

Patrick ‘The Punisher” Hyland (27-1, 12 KOs) made his successful debut at the world famous B.B. King Blues Club and Grill in midtown Manhattan when he defeated the very game Noel Echevarria (11-3, 5 KOs) via 4th round TKO.  Fighting under a new promotional banner (DiBella Entertainment), the native of Dublin, Ireland was out to prove that he was unaffected by the long layoff, and that his career at age 30 was far from over.  Hyland, who last fought in December 2012, also wanted to prove that he can adjust his style and fight a more aggressive fight.

“The Punisher” showed great speed and accurate punching combinations from round one and dictated the pace for the duration of the fight.  Echevarria did well in counterpunching Hyland and tagging him with left hands, but ultimately it was Hyland who was getting the better of the exchanges.  Hyland’s jab, signature one-two combinations, and the amounted pressure, began to take a toll on Echevarria and at 0:45 seconds of round 4, referee Benjy Estevez had seen enough.   With the win, Hyland’s record moves to 28-1, 13KO’s, and looks to re-establish his career after suffering his only loss to highly touted Javier Fortuna back in 2012.
