Chester Boxer Nathan Clarke Hoping To Come Back With A Bang!

Chester’s Nathan Clarke is determined to make it third time lucky as he goes in search of a first professional win this weekend.

The light welterweight is returning to the ring after a near three year absence. He last fought in 2011 and, after losing on his debut to Terry Needham in September of that year before drawing with Liam Ellis three months later, the 24 year-old wants that winning feeling.

He faces Trowbridge’s ‘Dirty’ Dan Carr on Saturday (4th October) and is expecting fireworks. The pair meet at The Chase Leisure Centre on the undercard of EJKO Promotions’ ‘The Chase’ at the Chase Leisure Centre, Cannock.

“Training has gone really well,” Clarke told www.uko-boxing.com.” We’ve worked on a few new things and I feel fit and ready.

“After a bit of time out of the game, I’m a different fighter to the one I was. I’ve been sparring a lot of quality lads in the gym, learning everyday and picking points up off them.

“I’ve sparred with three lads who are on the same bill in Josh McLaren, Kieran McLaren and a few technical bits with the headliner Grant Cunningham.

“I’m expecting fireworks but we will see how the night goes. My opponent can’t be taken lightly but I want to come back with a bang!”

‘The Chase’ is headlined by Stafford’s Grant Cunningham taking on Kieron Gray in a British Bronze Masters Title fight whilst Stoke super middleweight pair Mark Till and Marcus Le Doux go head-to-head in a local derby battle.

It also features undefeated Stoke welterweight Josh McLaren who takes on Barnsley’s Jamie Zaszlos whilst cousin, Kieran McLaren, makes his pro debut at light welterweight against Kristian Laight, who will be competing in his 200th professional contest.

‘The Chase’ takes place at Chase Leisure Centre, Stafford Road, Cannock, Staffordshire, WS11 4AL.
