Cunningham Makes Adjustments As His Eyes Are On The Belt

Stafford’s undefeated super middleweight, Grant Cunningham, believes tweaks to his training regime will ensure he comes out on top in his clash with Kieron Gray for the British Bronze Masters Super Middleweight Title.

The pair, friends since their days as amateurs, lock horns on EJKO Promotions’ ‘The Chase’ at Chase Leisure Centre, Cannock, on Saturday, 4th October.

Cunningham, undefeated in his opening nine professional contests, has made adjustments to his training as sets his sights on a first professional belt.

“Training has been going great,” Cunningham told www.uko-boxing.com. “I’ve really enjoyed the camp and have made a few adjustments.

“I have been doing a lot of strength and conditioning for this fight. My trainers at the Fight Factory have also made some exciting adjustments to my style which we are spending a lot time working on.

“I’ve been doing lots of technical sparring with Kieran McLaren and Rob Hunt. They are both a couple of weights below me which has kept me really sharp as we get comfortable with the adjustments we have made.

“I’m ready for this one now.  Kieran is a tough lad as I’ve said before. It’s great to be fighting near to my home town and the show is getting a lot of interest which is exciting.

“I can’t wait for Saturday now.”
The weigh-in takes place at Errol Johnson’s Wednesbury Boxing Academy, Wharfedale Street, Wednesbury, at 1.00pm on Friday, 3rd October.

‘The Chase’ undercard features undefeated Stoke welterweight Josh McLaren takes on Barnsley’s Jamie Zaszlos whilst cousin, Kieran McLaren, is set to make his pro debut at light welterweight against Kristian Laight, who will be competing in his 200th professional contest.

Stoke pair Mark Till and Marcus Le Doux go toe-to-toe in a local derby whilst Chester light welterweight, Nathan Clarke, completes the card against Trowbridge’s ‘Dirty’ Dan Carr.

‘The Chase’ takes place at Chase Leisure Centre, Stafford Road, Cannock, Staffordshire, WS11 4AL.
