Unbeaten middleweight Tommy Langford’s title ambitions for 2015

Unbeaten middleweight, Tommy Langford 11(2)-0-0 signed with Frank Warren is looking to enter title contention in early 2015.

The 24-year-old is eager to start fighting for belts after putting in the groundwork by winning all 11 of his fights so far. The most recent win against Gary Boulden 7-16(3)-2 last October completed his first two years in the pro ranks since appearing as a debutant in September 2012, winning on points against Scunthorpe middleweight, Steve Spence at the HMV Institute in Birmingham.

The undefeated middleweight boxer residing in the Midlands said, “I’ll be looking to go for a decent title next year such as the English or the WBO European.”

Langford, originally from Devon, went on to say, “I’ve watched Frank Buglioni win the WBO European in just his 11th fight and it’s not a level beyond me.”

The young middleweight is coached by trainer Tom Chaney at Hall Green ABC who guided top talent Frankie Gavin through a highly decorated amateur career to winning the British and Commonwealth welterweight titles in the paid ranks.

A former England international himself, Langford left the amateurs with an outstanding record of 86 wins from 106 fights, collecting University titles, Haringey Box Cup titles and National finals.  Two stand-out names on his amateur C.V are wins over Callum Smith and Anthony Fowler.

Everything has gone swimmingly for Langford since turning over two years ago, winning every one of the 53 rounds boxed so far. Following the first two fights at four rounds, Langford stepped up and has continued to box in six round contests, stopping two of his opponents on the way in Raimonds Sniedze in May 2013 and Nicky Jenman in August 2014 – the current British Masters Bronze middleweight champion.

Langford concluded, “I’m hoping to be out again before Christmas but I’m not sure of anything yet but I’ll have a title in the next two fights.”
