Oscar De La Hoya Foundation kicks off 2014 season of giving

Golden Boy Promotions Founder and President Oscar De La Hoya has officially kicked off his namesake Foundation’s 2014 season of giving with two events focused on giving back to the community.

On Friday, Nov. 21, the Oscar De La Hoya Foundation in association with the California Municipal Finance Authority donated new, state-of-the-art boxing equipment to the youth that train at the Santa Ana Boxing Club in Santa Ana, Calif. De La Hoya was on-hand to present the donation, interact with the gym’s youth and encouraged them to train hard in school and at the gym.

“This is where you learn discipline,” De La Hoya said to the youth at Santa Ana Boxing Club before presenting the new equipment. “Boxing gives you a sense of empowerment. It makes you feel confident. It makes you be humble. That’s what boxing did for me.”
