Jazza Dickens issues warning to Josh Wale

Jazza Dickens says he’s beaten Josh Wale already in his mind and he’ll do it for real on Friday 6th March at the Echo Arena and capture the Vacant British Super-Bantamweight Championship.

The Liverpool favourite makes a second attempt at the British title and is confident of being crowned the new champion in front of his home crowd on the biggest boxing show ever staged in the city, headlined by Paul Butler and Derry Mathews both in big world title fights.

Dickens, 23, the current English Champion, lost to rival Kid Galahad in September 2013, but has since rebounded with two strong wins over Krzysztof Rogowska and George Gachechiladze.

Barnsley’s Wale is an experienced campaigner who held Gavin McDonnell to a draw in their British title fight last year and will be looking to cause an upset and defeat Dickens on his home patch.

“I’ve seen Wale box plenty of times, I’ve paid particular interest to the McDonnell fight, but to be honest I’m not worried about what he brings to the ring, I’m just focused on what I’m going to do to him,” Said Wale.

“It’s definitely going to be a Jazza win, I’ve played the fight hundreds of times over in my mind already and I’ve already won, now I’ve got to do it for real on the night.  I’ve got a game plan to beat Wale and I’ll utilise it on the night,”

“I’ve learnt hard lessons from my loss to Galahad, I’ve gone away, regrouped, and my ambition to become a British and a world champion is burning harder than ever.  One loss isn’t going to set me back, it’s made me stronger and better.

“It’s fantastic to be fighting on the biggest card this city has ever seen and it’ll be even prouder moment to be crowned the British champion in front of my fans.”

The IBF World Super-Flyweight Championship between Zolani Tete v Paul Butler and the WBA World Lightweight Championship between Richar Abril v Derry Mathews headlines Mersey Boys that also features Liam Smith’s Vacant WBO Intercontinental Light-Middleweight title challenge; Kevin Satchell’s defence of the European Flyweight Championship; Jazza Dickens v Josh Wale for the Vacant British Super-Bantamweight Championship; Jack Catterall’s defence of the WBO European Light-Welterweight Championship; plus the return of Tom Stalker in an eight-round contest and Stephen Lewis in a six-round contest.
