The International Masters champion has campaigned at light middleweight but is targeting a return to welterweight and a second shot at a Midlands Title.
His contest with Unsworth is for a British Bronze Masters Title but he has his eyes firmly set on another crack at the Midlands strap. It takes place at Walsall Town Hall on Saturday, 25th April and Pearce, fresh from a February ring return following a lengthy absence, is ready to push on in 2015.
“It felt good to fight again put into practise the things I’d been working on in the gym,” he told www.uko-boxing.com. “I felt calm and relaxed. I didn’t waste any punches. I need to be more active and ready to take big fights if the money and notice is right, so I’m glad this is now a title fight and eliminator because it will open doors to better fights for the winner.”
Pearce, although keen on another Midlands title tilt, has no intention of facing current Midlands Area Light Middleweight Champion, Jason Welborn as, although still managed by Errol Johnson, Welborn has linked up with Pearce at ‘Coops Camp’ in Brierley Hill.
As stablemates, Pearce believes the pair will not meet and instead, the former Midlands Area Welterweight king has his eyes on a second spell as Midlands Champion, having held that strap in 2013. The belt is currently vacant and is being contested by Stafford’s Rob Hunt and Nuneaton’s Sullivan Mason on the same evening as Pearce takes on Unsworth. Having defeated Hunt in 2013, Pearce will be an interested spectator after his clash with Unsworth.
However, the 30 year-old insists he is only focussed on the task at hand.
“Jason is a team mate now and that fight will never happen. I’m getting back down to welterweight if I fight for Midlands Area Title again. This one is at a catch weight between the two and I will be interested to see who wins out of Hunt and Mason.
“I’m concentrating only on my fight though. Amir is a tough strong fighter. I respect and rate him he’s won titles and fought at English Title level. Styles make fights and this has the makings of an explosive battle. The crowd will be getting their monies worth!”

Pearce’s new stablemate, Jason Welborn, and Midlands Area Light Welterweight Champion, Luke Paddock, also feature alongside the likes of Wolverhampton welterweight, Sid Bowater, Stoke light welterweight Josh McLaren, Welshpool light middleweight, Warren Sinden, Ludlow light middleweight, Craig Morris, and Burton light welterweight, Tom Shaw.
