Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing has announced that this Saturday, April 18th, at The Paramount in Huntington, NY, Light Heavyweights Joe “The Irish Bomber” Smith Jr. and Cory “Black Ice” Cummings will now battle it out for the vacant IBA Continental Americas title over the 10 round distance.
Smith, 17-1 14KO’s, hailing from nearby Mastic, NY, will be going for his first belt as faces his toughest challenge to date in his young career taking on hard punching Cory Cummings, 18-8-1 13KO’s, Baltimore, MD.
A stacked undercard will lend its support to the Smith-Cummings bout and feature an 8 round Lightweight matchup between up and coming Anthony Karperis, 9-1 3KO’s, Hicksville, NY, taking a big step up in class as he faces the always dangerous Bayan Jargal, 17-6-3 11KO’s, Arlington, VA.
Undefeated Cruiser weight Constantin Bejenaru, 8-0 2KO’s, Brooklyn, NY battles it out with tough as nails Dave Valykeo, 4-4, Neptune, NJ, over 6 rounds. Also featured will be local favorites Johnny Hernandez, Dave Meloni, and Ian Green.
