Lennox Clarke Hoping To Catch The Eye

Lennox Clarke is aiming to catch the eye of Eddie Hearn, and the wider boxing world, when he makes his Matchroom debut this weekend.

The Halesowen boxer takes on Alistair Warren at the Barclaycard Arena in front of the Sky Sports cameras on Saturday (9th May).

It’s been a roller coaster ride for the likeable 23 year-old who only turned professional 18 months ago after no amateur experience.

In that short time, Clarke has recorded seven straight victories including a British Masters Bronze Super Middleweight Title in his last outing.

“This is massive for me,” Clarke said. “It’s what you work towards. I’ve loved every minute of my pro career so far but this is a big step up.

“I haven’t been around for long, so I still feel like no one really knows about me. This is the opportunity to show people what I can do.

“I want to stamp my name up and down the country this year and there’s no better way to do that than by appearing on a Matchroom show, at the Barclay Card Arena live on Sky!

“I am grateful to my manager, Errol Johnson, for getting me on and of course to Eddie Hearn and his team. I want to impress him and everyone watching.”

Clarke, who has sold almost 300 tickets, faces a tough test. Warren has twice competed for an Area Title and has also challenged for a WBC World Youth Title. Clarke however is confident.

“I’m always confident,” he concurred. “I’ve had a good camp and I’m ready to do the business on Saturday night.

“I have never boxed in front of cameras before and in such a big arena, but I have had milestones like that all through my career so far.

“I’ve done a  lot ion 18 months but there’s much more to come.”

Tickets are on sale priced at £40, £60 and £100 from www.barclaycardarena.co.uk. VIP passes costing £150 have been made exclusively available at www.matchroomboxing.com.
