After resurrecting Stuart Hall’s career and guiding the Darlington man to world title glory, Dennis Hobson is hoping he can do the same for Sheffield’s Ross Burkinshaw.
Under Hobson’s stewardship, Burkinshaw has amassed the Commonwealth and WBO European bantamweight titles, and is hoping to move a step closer to a world title shot on May 30.

Hall’s career once looked over after European title losses to Jamie McDonnell and Lee Haskins but, after teaming up with Hobson, the Darlington fighter secured the Commonwealth bantamweight belt before winning the IBF World title in 2013.
After losing his crown to Ellesmere Port’s Paul Butler, Hobson secured a fantastic chance for ‘Stuey’ to reclaim his world crown in October last year against Randy Caballero in Monaco. Although putting in a great shift, Hall lost unanimously on the cards and Caballero travelled back to the USA as champion.
Not having fought since the Caballero defeat, Hobson believes there are still great matches out there for Hall.
“Contractually we are still together, but I’m just waiting for them to contact me to tell me they’re in full training and that they want to fight,” explained Hobson. “I’ve offered a couple of fights to his trainer Paddy Lynch and we’re waiting to see where we get to.
“Stuart still has mileage in him, will trouble people at bantamweight, and there are some great domestic matches there for him. There’s one or two international fights I could get him but if he wants to do something domestically we’ve got Ross, there’s Ryan Farrag, and Jason Cunningham. So there’s fights there for Stuart but he needs to get on with it.”
