Impressive Joseph Parker takes out Yakup Saglam in two

Samoan High Chief Joseph Parker continued his rise up the heavyweight ranks with a powerful, impressive display at the Arena Manawatu, Palmerston North, New Zealand today.

Defending his WBO Oriental heavyweight and PABA heavyweight title, he scored an emphatic second round stoppage over German based, Turkish boxer Yakup Saglam.

Orthodox Saglam tried a looping right hand early and throws a few more, in the round, hoping to land a haymaker. Parker with some nice hooks, body and head, against a high guard defense from Saglam. Last minute of the round, Parker unleashes a furious assault, a right hand has Saglam stumbling and backed-up to the ropes – Yakup survives it. A clear round for Parker.

In the second, a hard right hand drops Saglam, early in the round, he got to his feet but looked dazed. His corner threw in the towel. The writing was on the wall and Saglam would never have made it out of the round.

“The Klitschko camp was a great experience. We took a lot out of it and learned a lot from the best in the World.

“I caught him with a good shot and I’m happy with the result. I’ll take a week off and then go to Las Vegas and train hard.”

Joseph Parker’s record is now an impressive 14-0, 12 KO’s, while Yakup Saglam drops to 34-4, 31 KOs.
