Recently it was announced that Manny Pacquiao and Tim Bradley would fight for a third time. My question is…. What’s the point?
After 2015’s mega fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr., Manny warned us we may only see him one more time. Lots of people called for a rematch with Floyd. Many called for a big fight with Amir Khan. I can’t think of a single person who I heard say: “What about a third fight with Bradley?”
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of Bradley generally, but let’s not kid ourselves. The first fight was a mismatch which somehow swung in Bradley’s favour. Then the rematch proved just how one sided the cards should have been first time round.
What possibly could we gain from a third fight? It’s not even as though the first two fights were all action. Bradley found himself in survival mode for most of the 24 rounds.
What I’m trying to say is… Manny clearly beat him twice. For me. Bradley hasn’t significantly improved since then. It’s a lose/lose fight for both parties. If Manny beats Bradley we knew it would happen. And if Bradley beats Manny then we say… Ohh yeah Manny is well past his best.
