Sanigar Events announce that Tony Conquest has been withdrawn by his management team due to an injury sustained in training. Craig Kennedy will now take on Lukasz Rusiewicz of Poland over 10 rounds on Friday 11th March at The Newport Centre. Rusiewicz who was in training camp for a scheduled 10 round fight in Germany is coming into the fight following a first round KO win. Rusiewicz has a tough man reputation and comes to fight, in the past pushing the world’s top cruiserweights including former world champion Herbie Hide, Ola Afolabi and current WBO Champion Krzysztof Glowacki. Following Conquest’s second pull out to box Craig Kennedy Sanigar events have petitioned the British Boxing Board of Control on Kennedy’s position to challenge for the British title.
Bradley Pryce will now box Simone Lucas over 6 rounds after Barrie Jones has pulled out due to a chest infection. Sanigar Events will look to reschedule this Welsh super welterweight title as soon as possible. Wales number one prospect Andrew Selby will box Brett Fidoe, Fidoe has had a return to form winning two out of his last three fights by knockout stopping 10-0 Brad Watson and 2-0 Adam Mackenzie. Brett has never been stopped in 30 contests.
Unbeaten Jermaine Asare will look to extend his record to four wins out of four alongside fellow unbeaten light heavyweight Nathan Thorley who has so far stopped two out of three opponents and will be keen to continue to make his mark on the division. Ebbw Vale’s unbeaten female bantamweight Ashley Brace who scored a shut out points victory at the Lancaster Hotel, London in February will want to build momentum as she sets her sights on challenging for major titles. Welsh Elite Championship finalist Sonny Lee will make his much awaited debut on the show against Swansea’s durable Matthew Ashmole.
Promoter Chris Sanigar added “We are obviously disappointed that Tony Conquest has been withdrawn from his eliminator with Craig but I am pleased we have secured a fight with Rusiewicz as he will be a stern test for Craig. Hopefully Craig is successful on Friday night and we can then discuss with the British Boxing Board of Control Craig’s position on a fight for the British title. Following our great show on Saturday night in Merthyr, Welsh boxing is thriving and I look forward to another great night of action in Newport on Friday.”
