Dennis Hobson and Asif Vali join forces on April 23, as they bring boxing to the Premier Suite at Bolton’s Macron Stadium.
Sheffield fight-figure Hobson, and former Amir Khan manager Vali have worked together previously on a number of shows but this will be the first time the duo have teamed up to promote in Bolton-born Asif’s home town.
The pair will also work with former pro Kieran Farell’s promotional outfit – Kieran Farrell Promotions – on the upcoming show, and have identified a number of promising fighters that they hope to nurture to future championship contention.
“Dennis has obviously promoted many shows in Yorkshire, and since we’ve become friends I’ve been signing fighters in the Northwest and the Bolton area,” explained Asif, who is also a key part of heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury’s team.
“We’re looking at a 7-fight bill, and headlining will be Reece Cartwright from Leeds who is an 11-0 undefeated prospect. We’ll have Osman Aslam on the show, who is a real talent and someone I’m very excited about. He’s undefeated in three fights, and is from Bolton so will be fighting in front of his home crowd. Kieran has also got a number of really good young fighters appearing.
“The Northwest is a boxing hotbed, and I’m certain we’ll be producing future champions. So, it will be a really good night of boxing, and some of the proceeds will also go to the Zak Vali Foundation.”
Hobson, who helped launch Ricky Hatton to stardom in America, and who has produced various world champions, including Clinton Woods, Jamie McDonnell and Stuart Hall said: “Asif is a very close friend, and he’s got lots of experience when you look at how he progressed Amir Khan’s career.
“He’s always been a pleasure to work with, we have our banter, but I love working with him. We bounce off each other and have a lot of fun, but Asif is also a real grafter, and will work night and day to make things happen. The Zak Vali Foundation is a great cause to be raising money for, and there a few things in the Northwest for us to do together. We’ve attracted some great talent already and I look forward to working with them in the coming months and years.”
Dennis Hobson Promotions in association with Platinum Promotions and Kieran Farrell Promotions present an evening of boxing in the Premier Suite at Bolton’s Macron Stadium on April 23. Appearing will be Leeds’ Reece Cartwright and Zahid Hussain; Warrington’s Nathan Wheatley; Bolton’s Osman Aslam; Skerton’s Reece Macmillan; Rochdale’s Bilal Rehman, and Ryan Watson.
