Boxing fans can watch a former Olympian and a future cruiserweight star FREE on Saturday April 23 when Joe Murray and Jack Massey appear on VIPBOXING.TV, live from the Devonshire Dome in Buxton.

Manchester’s Murray, who took part in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, is looking to get his career back on track after a British super-featherweight title challenge defeat to Liam Walsh in February 2015. The brother of former world title challenger John; Murray has lost just two of 17 bouts and, now up at lightweight, will want to impress against Stockton’s Abdon Cesar.

Local man Massey has proved a huge attraction since turning pro in 2013. Hailing from nearby Chapel-en-le-Frith, the 23-year-old has glided to 9-0, knocking out four opponents in the process and earning the nickname ‘One Smack’! Last October, Massey headlined for the first time at the Dome in front of a feverish atmosphere, and promoter Steve Wood has confirmed it’s another sell-out this Saturday. Massey takes on Prague’s heavy-hitting Robert Rosenberg, who has six KOs from seven wins, with just a brace of defeats on his ledger.

“We’ve been getting some great feedback from viewers on our shows, with people watching from around the world,” explained Wood, who manages world lightweight king Terry Flanagan. “Tomi Tatham was in a war last time out, with plenty of fans saying it was a ‘fight of the year’ contender. This Saturday’s show is completely sold out but fans can watch it on vipboxing.tv, so it’s another great opportunity for fans to watch some quality fighters for free.

“Jack is coming along really well under trainer Bobby Rimmer. He’s got very good skills and is great to watch, but he can also hit very hard. He won the WBC Youth Silver cruiserweight title last time out with another knockout win, and I really do think he will be a major player in the division in the years to come.

“Joe Murray’s career maybe hasn’t progressed as he’d have liked since turning over. He’s got those two losses to Liam Walsh on his record, who’s a very good fighter in himself, but there’s still a very bright future for him. He’s getting a decent test in Abdon Cesar after a long layoff, and I know he’s raring to go again after moving up in weight and wants to show everyone he still has big titles in him.”

VIP Promotions presents an evening of boxing at the Devonshire Dome (SK17 6RY) on April 23.

Appearing will be Chapel-en-le-Frith’s Jack Massey; Manchester’s Joe Murray; Failsworth’s Jake Bulger; Glossop’s Adam Hague, and Lancashire’s Lee Gillespie.

The show is sold out but will be streamed live and free at vipboxing.tv
