Clarke Eyes ‘Meaningful Title’

Lennox Clarke is determined that 2016 will be the year of ‘Dangerous’.

The unbeaten super middleweight, 11-0, tops Black Country Boxing’s ‘Summer Scorcher’ at Walsall Town Hall next month looking to make further progress in his bid for a ‘meaningful title’ this year.

The 24 year-old has impressed since turning professional in 2013 and now, having broken into Britain’s top 20 super middleweights, is honing in on a big fight to elevate himself to the next level.

“It’s great to be topping bills but I’m ready for a big fight now too,” he told www.uko-boxing.com. “I’m ranked in the top 20 in Britain so I don’t want to be taking pointless fights and then my opponents want an incentive for stepping in with me; be that a title or a decent pay day. It’s a waiting game and one I’m happy to play as long as I get the fights I want in time.

“I want a meaningful title and expect a shot at a least the Midlands Area Title this year; if not the English or Commonwealth. Andrew Robinson has stepped down to middleweight so I understand that the Midlands Area Super Middleweight Title is up-for-grabs. If there’s anyone out there who wants to get it on, give me a shout. If the right fight comes along, I’m ready to have it. Midlands was my aim, my first rung on the ladder, but if I have to miss that to take another shot I’m happy to that.

“I’m looking forward to getting back in there next month. I said I wanted to be busy so this will be my third fight of 2016. I’d like to be 15-0 by the end of the year having had a proper title fight or have one scheduled in. I’m in the gym, fully focused and ready to kick on. I want to break into the top ten in Britain and get my hands on a belt.”

Tickets for the show, sponsored by Grosvenor Casino Walsall, are priced at £30 (general admission) and £60 (VIP Ringside), and can be purchased by calling 0845 111 2900 or directly from any boxer on the bill.

The weigh-in and aftershow (over 18’s only) take place at Grosvenor Casino Walsall, Bentley Mill Way, Walsall WS2 0LE (just off junction 10 of the M6). GC Walsall will have a presence at the Town Hall on the evening and have linked up with local taxi firm, Yellow Taxi’s, to supply a number of free taxi’s to take guests from the Town Hall to the casino post-fight.
