Sam Evans is already planning for next year and he believes if he remains unbeaten after Thursday’s appearance on Black Country Boxing’s Christmas Dinner Show in Birmingham it will leave him in a fantastic position to go for a title in 2017 writes James Eley.

Evans is joined by former Team GB star Ekow Essuman and unbeaten West Bromwich middleweight, Tom Stokes, on the three-fight dinner show which also features an after dinner talk with former WBO Middleweight and Super Middleweight Champion, Steve Collins.

“This fight will be another learning fight to finish off the year and then next year whatever comes I will take,” he told www.uko-boxing.com.

“I am focused on one fight at a time at the minute and I want to finish this year undefeated and move on to 2017. I think next year I will be looking to fight for a title, even if that is towards the end of the year. But I am just going to keep building on it and take one fight at a time and keep improving, I think that is the main thing, and then look for titles.

“The more rounds I do the more suited I am. I think four rounds aren’t enough to properly get into the fight and it is always nervy because you can’t really afford to lose any rounds.

“I think the more rounds I have in a fight the better I will look. Preparation has been really good. This week is the last week of sparring and I am doing eight rounds sparring tomorrow with Adam Little so that should be good and I am all ready to go next Thursday.”

The Ricky Hatton trained boxer is excited about fighting in the second city tonight and he hopes to put on a display which will expand his fan base.

“I am really looking forward to fighting in Birmingham,” he added. “ I haven’t fought there yet. I have been in the ring in Coventry and Walsall but not Birmingham so I am looking forward to it.

“Walsall is five minutes away from my house so that is my home show but I don’t mind going elsewhere. It is always good to fight in a different venue with a different set up and hopefully I will pick up a new set of fans who like my style.”
