Bernstein hailed the official announcement of the Deontay Wilder-Tyson Fury Heavyweight clash as “another sign that boxing in 2018 is providing fans with exciting and big events.” The match will be televised on SHOWTIME PPV and Al will be ringside serving as analyst on the telecast. He added, “This match helps culminate a terrific year for the sport and a great year of SHOWTIME Boxing. In my 15 years of doing boxing on Showtime this year may well be the best. This is a matchup of two big men and two big personalities that will make for a very important sporting event.”

The National California Veteran Boxers Association will honor Al Bernstein at its annual dinner on October 20 at the Basque Cultural Center in South San Francisco.

Al said, “I’m so happy to be recognized by a group that shows such respect for the courage and skill of the men who truly make boxing a special sport—the boxers. I’m also delighted to follow in the footsteps of my colleague and friend Barry Tompkins, who has also been an honoree.”
